Sad, Another Plane Crash Claims 179 Lives 2 Days to New Year

A Jeju aircraft has claimed the lives of 179 people out of the 181 passengers on board. The incident occurred when the plane belly landed on a runway at the Muan International Airport in South Korea before skidding off and shortly, bursting into flames. The crash occurred approximately two minutes after the airliner made a mayday call to the control tower, which instructed the plane to land in the opposite direction on the runway. Two crew members – one male and one female – survived the deadly crash and are in hospital. The two survivors were found in the plane’s tail. "The final death toll from the plane crash in South Korea is 179, meaning just two people survived, two crew members survived the Jeju Air crash after being pulled from the plane’s tail. Both are in hospital, but their condition is not yet known", the fire service said. Black Christmas: 38 Die in Plane Crash

  By: Goke Williams A tragic incident unfolded in Kazakhstan as a fiery plane crash claimed the lives of no fewer than 38 persons. The ill-fated aircraft, carrying a total of 67 people comprising 62 passengers and 5 crew members, met its devastating fate near the Kazakh city of Aktau on Christmas Day. The ill-fated Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 was en route from the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, to Grozny in the Russian region of Chechnya when it was forced to make an emergency landing approximately 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from Aktau. On arriving the gory site, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations discovered the aircraft engulfed in flames, prompting swift action from rescue units to put out the fire. A witness named Elmira, who courageously assisted in the rescue efforts, recounted the sad scene that unfolded before her eyes. Naomi, Oriyomi, School Principal to Spend Christmas in Detention

A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, today, Tuesday, ordered the remand of the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, the Chief Executive Officer of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Abdullahi Fasasi, at the Agodi Correctional Centre. The remand order followed their arraignment in connection with last week’s tragic stampede at a Christmas funfair held at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, which claimed the lives of 35 children and left six others injured. The court was presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, who gave the order after the suspects were brought to the court amidst heavy security. Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp Experience Widespread Outage Linked to Meta

  Unfortunately, users of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are facing difficulties accessing these platforms due to a mass global outage. Nevertheless, Meta, which owns the apps, stated on X that they were working assiduously to fix the outage as soon as possible: "We're aware that a technical issue is impacting some users' ability to access our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience."  Over 22,000 people reported issues with Facebook on Wednesday evening and over 18,000 struggled to use WhatsApp, according to outage-tracking site Downdetector. Problems with the apps have been reported in the UK, parts of Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, the US and even in Nigeria. - 'Budget of Recovery' earmarks N238b for Infrastructure; N77b for Education; N56b for Agriculture & N46b for Health The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has presented a budget proposal of six hundred and fifty-five billion, two hundred and thirty million naira (N655,230) for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. The budget, christened the “Budget of Recovery,” was presented to lawmakers during plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, at the Assembly Complex in Akure on Tuesday. The sum of N248.923 billion, representing 37.99% of the total budget, is allocated for recurrent expenditure, while N406.307 billion, representing 62.01% of the budget, is earmarked for capital expenditure.
