Otunba Alabi Alaba Olabamidele Charles, the elected Chairman of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association 1986/87/88 Sets, says his administration is currently embarking on a complete renovation of three blocks of classrooms at the prestigious Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure.
Otunba Charles Alaba made this known to Gok Communications recently in Akure, the Ondo State capital, at the Global Executive Council (GEC) meeting of the Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association held at the Alumni Secretariat of the school.
In his words: "We are determined to contribute immensely to the overall development of our alma mater; and as I speak, work is ongoing at the project site for an overhaul renovation of three blocks of classrooms in the school."
This is sequel to the official invitation extended to the three conglomerate sets' leadership by the 10th GEC of the alumni body.
Notably, it has become the custom of the global old students that a set that clocks 40 years of leaving the highly revered institution hosts the school's yearly founder's week anniversary/annual general meeting in collaboration with the global body and the school's administration.
Otunba Charles Alaba, who by virtue of his profession as the current President of Real Estate Managers' Association of Ondo State (REMASSOS), made robust contributions at the floor of the hallowed chamber of the GEC meeting, especially in the area of encroachment of the school land. He assured the honorable setting of his ever-readiness to ensure that appropriate steps are taken in retrieving the said land.
He further established the readiness of the sets to host a fantastic 63rd Founder's Week Anniversary by January 2026. He also made mention of some of the projects already achieved by the sets.
While conveying the sets' greetings to the setting, Otunba Charles Alaba, in company of Dr. Ifedayo Josiah, an active member of the sets, wowed by the achievements of the GEC, heartily appreciated them for a job well done and prayed for God's divine mercy, favor, and blessings for all members.
Indeed, Otunba Charles Alaba is fulfilling the promise made to the sets. It would be recalled that at the inauguration of the executive members of the 1986/87/88 sets, Otunba Charles assured the elite gathering that the executive, whom he tagged the "Legacy Team," under his watch would usher in rapid development for the sets, alumni, and the institution.
The Global Executive Council meeting was presided over physically by Dr. Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, who is the Global President of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association, with attended members from different branches across Nigeria and abroad.
Dr. Niyi Ijogun, in response, described the group as remarkable, being a conglomeration of three different sets coming together as one formidable and indivisible set. Speaking further at the meeting, he commended the sets under the leadership of Otunba Charles Alaba for their laudable achievements in terms of human and infrastructural development.
He appreciated their commitment to the growth of the association and the institution, adding that all hands must be on deck for a complete overhaul of the school. He, however, expressed confidence in the groups to host a very successful 73rd Founder's Week Anniversary of the school.
Here are some of the achievements of the 1986/87/88 sets:
