OGSA 2001 Set Exco Pays Hon (Dr) Gbenga Fasua Congratulatory Visit

– Awards Him with Distinguished Member of OGSA 2001 Set

The Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Old Students' Association 2001 Set, represented by its Executive Members, has paid a congratulatory visit to the newly elected Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area, Hon (Dr) Gbega Fasua, at his office over the weekend.

Pastor (Barr) Dare Daniels, the Chairman of the Set, led the delegation and officially conveyed congratulations to Hon Gbenga Fasua on behalf of the OGSA 2001 Set. He emphasised the importance of offering unwavering support and safeguarding the reputation of the local government leader, not only because he belongs to the set but also due to his exceptional hospitality. In expressing the set's commitment to supporting the local council chairman, Pastor Dare Daniels stated: "Hon Chairman, please feel free to call upon us whenever you require support, as we are standing solidly behind you."

He advised Hon Fasua to seize the opportunity of his position to leave a lasting legacy and invest significantly in the development of human capital. He remarked, "We rise by uplifting others, and it is divine providence that has placed you in a position of authority, enabling us to proudly project you as our representative at Akure South Local Government." He encouraged him to share opportunities and allocate time to host the 2001 Set for a dinner, where all members could gather to relax, reminisce, share laughter, and foster camaraderie as mates and friends.

Furthermore, Pastor Dare Daniels, acting on behalf of the Oyemekun Grammar School Akure 2001 Set, bestowed upon Hon Gbenga Fasua the Honour of Distinguished Member of the Set, decorating him with the school's muffler as a token symbolising friendship, unity, and solidarity.

Engr Yinka Saliu, the Set's Treasurer, appealed to Hon Fasua to initiate a project in his name and ensure that the set undertakes at least one project at the school during his distinguished tenure. He further recommended a significant investment in infrastructural development for the benefit of the people of Akure South.

Also offering insights was the Secretary of the Set, Mr Stanley Oluwole, who philosophically stated that an individual requires the support of one person to rise, but he or she might not know the person.

The Publicity Secretary of the Set, Hon Goke Williams, advised Hon Gbenga Fasua to prioritise his commitments and allocate time for rest, emphasising that 'health is wealth'. He also encouraged him to attend the Akure Branch Old Students' Association Meeting, held every last Thursday of the month by 4 pm in the Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Hall. Hon Goke highlighted that active participation in such gatherings would endear him not only to his alma mater but also to many others, saying he would always need people. He took the opportunity to present a congratulatory letter to the Akure South Chairman, Hon Gbenga Fasua, on behalf of the 10th Global Executive Council and the entire Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association, under the dynamic leadership of Dr Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, its Global President. Hon Goke extended his prayers for Hon Fasua's continued success and wisdom in his role as the local council boss.

In response, Hon (Dr) Gbenga Fasua, the esteemed Chairman of Akure South Local Government, expressed his delight at the visit from his secondary schoolmates, acknowledging their presence with deep appreciation. He recognised the inherent imperfections in every individual and the challenges that accompany his demanding office and tight schedules. Demonstrating his commitment to delivering democracy's dividends to his constituents, the Chairman said, "I am receptive to your advice; this is our time, and I am prepared to labour for the advancement of Akure South Local Government. I have meticulously planned my initiatives since assuming office, eager to commence impactful projects, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, and other critical areas." He requested Hon Goke Williams to remind him of the Home Branch meeting of the Association, endorsing the idea of giving back to his alma mater as an integral part of his constituency.

Also present at the meeting were the immediate past Secretary of the Set, Mr Oluwaseyi Oluwalade, and the Set's Reunion Chairman for 2024, Mr Adekunle Oni.

It is noteworthy that Hon Gbenga Fasua not only serves as the founding convener of the OGSA 2001 Set but also holds the distinction of being the pioneer chairman. Undoubtedly, the prestigious Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, continues to produce distinguished individuals in Nigeria and beyond.

Signed

Hon Goke Williams

Public Secretary, OGSA 2001 Set

Beware of Ondo-Ore Road

– As Motorists Call for Urgent Attention... The Ondo-Ore Road, currently undergoing construction, has become an exceedingly dangerous route for motorists plying it.  An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, shared his experience with Gok Communications. "The contractor responsible for the project should please establish accessible entry and exit points along the road, in addition to providing more prominent road signs and diversion signposts to facilitate the movement of vehicles, particularly during this rainy season. Numerous cars were trapped on the road while I was navigating it this evening," he lamented. He therefore implored the government to appeal to the contractors handling the Ondo-Ore road construction to take the necessary actions to ensure a seamless flow of transportation along the busy road. However, the federal government's vigorous efforts in the dualization of the road are highly commendable. It is indeed a testament to the dividends of democracy, and al...

The persistent electricity supply issues in the town had led to this gathering, which Aisha apparently found intolerable.
