– Describes Him as Compassionate Leader
Today, on his birthday, I celebrate Elder Olugbenga Dare, a committed alumnus of the prestigious Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure — an ardent lover of his alma mater; a passionate motivator, a great mobilizer, a go-getter, a pacesetter, a pathfinder, a trailblazer, an intentional giver, and a critical thinker. I can state these attributes with conviction because I had the privilege of serving alongside you on the apex board of our Alumni — the OGSA Global Executive Council. I saw, firsthand, how you consistently participated, often at odd hours due to time zone differences, marshalling your viewpoints with daring audacity and commendable courage — qualities so unmistakably characteristic of true Oyemekunans.
Dear Mr Gbenga Dare, without unnecessary flattery or sweet words, you have distinguished yourself as an exceptional old boy. Whether through your immense resources, the invaluable ideas you have contributed over time, or your steadfast physical presence even when it was inconvenient — all these sacrifices have been duly noticed, particularly by the younger generation. This is the footpath we will gladly follow for the growth of our shared heritage — Great OGSA.
Candidly, you have continued, in no small measure, to contribute to the overall advancement of both the institution and the association. Indeed, you are one of the rare gifts the Almighty Creator has, remarkably, bestowed upon the history of our great institution. You are a man to reckon with — an exemplar of the core values for which the school is renowned.
You are a compassionate leader. I still vividly remember your generous gesture when I lost my biological father. You reached out to me intentionally — in words and financially — and I will never forget it for as long as I live.
God bless you, Great Senior!
Signed
Hon Goke Williams
