EFCC Gives Reasons for Freezing Osun State Government Account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has placed a Post No Debit order on the bank accounts of the Osun State Government over alleged fraudulent handling of public funds to the tune of N11 billion. In a press statement released on Wednesday, the Commission said the action became necessary following suspicious movements of funds from state accounts since August 2, 2026. According to the EFCC, it has been investigating the Osun State Government since March 2026 regarding the alleged mismanagement of Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds, and Federal Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, allocations.  The Commission disclosed that some officials of the state government, including the Accountant General, have been invited for questioning as part of the ongoing probe. "The Commission noticed huge transfers of funds into different corporate entities and had to swiftly halt the trend by freezing the accounts from which such heavy funds are being moved," the statement read. ‘OUR EASE’: GOV AIYEDATIWA APPROVES OVER 50 TOWNSHIP ROAD PROJECTS IN 18 LGAS

- Asphalt overlay, reconstruction & rehabilitation of selected roads begin statewide

- Gov releases funds to mobilize contractors for completion of ongoing projects

Ahead of the new year and his inauguration on February 24, 2025, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the implementation of one of the critical components of his campaign promises to the people of the State: enhanced road infrastructure.

As part of the ‘OUR EASE’ mandate, the Governor last week gave approval, with the release of funds, for the reconstruction, asphalt overlay and rehabilitation of over 50 selected township roads across the 18 local government areas of the State.

Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Pastor Ayoade Babalola, said Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that investing in road infrastructure is essential for building a strong foundation for transportation system, driving economic growth and improving quality of life.

Babalola said: “It is no longer news that in the last few months contracts for the asphalt overlay of 60km road projects across the state had since commenced following their award in August 2024. This is nothing but a testament to the governor’s extraordinary commitment to the transformation of the State’s road infrastructure.”

He added the contractors awarded the newly approved road projects have been mobilized to begin work and those projects would run together with the ongoing road projects of the outgoing Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa administration.

According to him, the allocation of N433 billion for capital expenditure in the 2025 budget, which represents 62.06% of the total expenditure, is a positive move that demonstrates that the governor is determined to transform Ondo State into an infrastructural hub.

Atiku Lambasts APC-Led Govt in New Year Message

Dear Fellow Nigerians, I extend my compliments of the season as we welcome the New Year, 2026. For millions of long-suffering Nigerians, the only consolation is that 2025, one of the most punishing years in our recent history, has come to an end. It was a year defined by economic suffocation, political recklessness, and governance without empathy under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. The past year exposed, in stark terms, the incompetence and policy bankruptcy of President Bola Tinubu. Governing for months without a functional budget, the administration relied on propaganda while borrowing recklessly, pushing the nation to the brink of economic collapse. Nothing better captures the decay of this government than the scandal of a forged tax law, shamelessly branded a “reform.” Even more disturbing was the President’s refusal to allow due legislative and legal processes to address what is clearly a criminal act.   A government that begins reform with forgery...
