Gov. Aiyedatiwa Hails Prof. Olu-Aderounmu at 80, Describes Him as "Shining Ambassador of Ondo State"

Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has felicitated Professor William Olusola Olu-Aderounmu on the occasion of his 80th birthday, describing him as an elder statesman and distinguished scholar whose life embodies service and excellence.
In a tribute dated 15th July, 2026 and signed by the Governor, the Ondo State Government celebrated Prof. Olu-Aderounmu as part of "that distinguished generation of scholars whose lives have enriched both the academia and the country in general."
The Governor noted the Professor's remarkable career as an eminent scholar, accomplished author, and university administrator. According to the tribute, he devoted his life to "the advancement of knowledge, the mentoring of younger scholars, future leaders and the strengthening of democratic governance through rigorous scholarship and thoughtful public discourse."
Governor Aiyedatiwa further praised Prof. Olu-Aderounmu for exemplifying the enduring virtues of "scholarship, integrity, discipline, humility and patriotic service."
"Through your voice of reason and advocacy for good governance, you have contributed immensely to the growth of the society. As you attain this milestone, we celebrate you as a shining ambassador of Ondo State, not merely for the passage of time, but also for an enduring life of impact and enviable legacy of excellence," the Governor stated.
He prayed that Almighty God grant the celebrant continued good health, renewed strength, abiding peace and many more years of fruitful service to humanity.
Prof. Olu-Aderounmu’s extensive academic publications and contributions to scholarship have earned him widespread respect and recognition within and beyond Nigeria’s intellectual community.
