Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, mni, was among dignitaries at the 60th Birthday Thanksgiving Service and Investiture of Lace Superior Elder Sister Mercy Daudu as Iya Eso 2026 of the Celestial Church of Christ, Agunloye Cathedral, Ondo State Archdiocesan Headquarters, Agunloye Lane, Isinkan in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Sunday.
In his remarks, Dr Adelami congratulated Lace Superior Elder Sister Mercy Daudu on the well-deserved recognition, praying that God would grant her greater wisdom, strength, and grace to excel in her new spiritual responsibility.
He also commended the church leadership and members for their commitment to nurturing the younger generation in the fear of God through the Juvenile Harvest Celebration. The Deputy Governor used the occasion to pray for the speedy release of children still in captivity.
“May this milestone inspire continued unity, love, and selfless service within the body of Christ and our society at large,” he said.
In attendance were Hon Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, Esq, a philanthropist and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, an array of prominent Obas, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Prophet (Dr) Adebayo Adekoya, the Shepherd in Charge and the Ondo State Archdiocesan Head, and among other dignitaries. The anniversary drew a large congregation.
The occasion, which also coincided with the church's Juvenile Harvest Celebration, was a remarkable gathering of faith, gratitude, and service to God.
This year’s observance was marked by sobriety and deep reflection. In solemn solidarity with the children and teachers still held in captivity, the Church raised unified prayers for their divine rescue, restoration, and safe return.
The Celestial Church of Christ worldwide observes its Juvenile Harvest every first Sunday in June.
