At the recent inter-housesports competition commemorating Oyemekun Grammar School's 73rd Founder's Anniversary in Akure, the Ondo State capital, one group stood out: The Legacy Elite Club. The club was honored by the school management and staff for its dedication to community's growth and charitable acts.
Represented by High Chief Olugbenga Adeyeye, also a distinguished alumnus, received an Outstanding Community Service Award on behalf of the club.
Speaking at the event, Prince Adeyeye expressed gratitude to the school management for recognizing the club's contributions to society and humanity. He congratulated them on their anniversary, highlighting the school's academic excellence and moral upliftment as a top notch. He reaffirmed the club's commitment to the school's growth, citing his roles as 1984 set coordinator and ex-officio member of the Alumni's Global Executive Council. On behalf of the club, High Olugbenga Adeyeye donated several soccer boots to the school.
The Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide, appreciated the Legacy Elite Club's efforts and thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's administration for supporting extracurricular activities, especially sports, in schools. He noted that sports shape character, build discipline, and foster unity, saying, "Today, we showcase talent and grit."
Also, Oluyide appreciated the 10th Global Executive Council of the Alumni Association led by Dr. Niyi Ijogun for executing monumental projects which had transformed the school to a global standard. The principal further appreciated the alumni, teachers, parents, and guests for their support and presence at the school's special inter-housesports event.
Other awardees at the occasion included Dr. Adeniyi Ijogun, Hon. Dayo Awude, Mr. Sola Ogunyimika, Hon. (Princess) Omowumi Olatunji Ohwovoriole, Mr. Timileyin Oni, and Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Kosemani Kolawole.
The Legacy Elite Club focuses on community development through six key areas: Community Service, Social Interaction, Quality Network, Education, Care & Support, and Personal & Professional Growth, creating opportunities for members to give back to local communities. The event highlighted community service, education, and character development.
