The Principal of Ondo State School for the Hearing Impaired, Mrs. Taiwo Makinde, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support to all the special schools across the state.


Speaking at the school premises in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday, at the event sponsored by the committee of friends and associates of Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, as part of their activities marking the 61st birthday celebration of the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.


Mrs. Makinde praised the governor's commitment to prompt payment of salaries and allowances, noting that the school fees, accommodation, and feeding of students are fully covered by the state government.


She described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a compassionate and caring leader, wishing him a happy birthday, long life, and prosperity. Mrs. Makinde also appreciated Dr. Seun Osamaye, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, and her committee of friends for their charitable gestures, praying that God would replenish their purses. 


Makinde also extended appreciation to the Ondo State Ministry of Education for their usual support towards upholding the standard of learning in the state.


The principal, however, made a heartfelt plea for support, specifically seeking a school bus, infrastructural renovation - particularly for the termite-damaged classrooms - and the boys' hostel. 


She extended an invitation to philanthropists and the general public to share in the joy of celebrating their special days with the students, thereby putting smiles on their faces.


Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, expressed gratitude to God for sparing Governor Aiyedatiwa's life, highlighting the school's benefits from free tuition and boarding, a testament to the governor's commitment to education. 


The commissioner, represented by Mr. Abubarkar A. A, the Director in Special Education Unit, extolled Governor Aiyedatiwa's paternal dedication to the school's welfare, thanking him on behalf of the special students.



Dr. Seun Osamaye, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, who led a delegation of prominent political, social, and market leaders, commended the school's principal, Mrs. Taiwo Makinde for her exemplary discipline and organizational prowess, expressing admiration for the students' composure.

The event featured captivating performance by the school's cultural troup, material and cash gift presentations to the special students, courtesy of the commissioner and her committee of friends. The noble gesture was part of a larger outreach, with visits to the Christ Orphanage Home, Pele, Ondo, and the Ondo State Children and the Motherless Babies Home, Akure, spreading joy as part of Governor Aiyedatiwa's 61st birthday celebrations.

Sad, Another Plane Crash Claims 179 Lives 2 Days to New Year

A Jeju aircraft has claimed the lives of 179 people out of the 181 passengers on board. The incident occurred when the plane belly landed on a runway at the Muan International Airport in South Korea before skidding off and shortly, bursting into flames. The crash occurred approximately two minutes after the airliner made a mayday call to the control tower, which instructed the plane to land in the opposite direction on the runway. Two crew members – one male and one female – survived the deadly crash and are in hospital. The two survivors were found in the plane’s tail. "The final death toll from the plane crash in South Korea is 179, meaning just two people survived, two crew members survived the Jeju Air crash after being pulled from the plane’s tail.
