– Congratulates Him as New Asiwaju of Akure Land
The Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Global Alumni Association extends its warmest congratulations to one of their esteemed and dedicated members, Hon. High Chief Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, affectionately known as Abena, the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), on the momentous occasion of his 70th birthday and his recent coronation as the Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom by His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom.
In a statement made available to Gok Communications and duly signed by Dr. Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, MRICS, the Global President of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association, Ijogun stated:
"A Life of Remarkable Achievements: We are thrilled to celebrate the extraordinary life and accomplishments of Hon. Sunday Abegunde, the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Your remarkable achievements in all facets of life are a testament to your unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and unshakeable commitment to excellence. You are an enigma, a living legend, and a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose and meaning.
"A Double Celebration: On this momentous occasion of your 70th birthday, we wish Hon. Sunday Abegunde a joyous celebration, filled with continued joy, robust health, admirable longevity, and prosperity. We also congratulate you on your recent installation as the Asiwaju of Akure Land, a testament to your outstanding contributions to your community and beyond. These two beautiful milestones are a reminder of your enduring legacy and the profound impact you have had on the lives of countless individuals. Futhermore, we warmly extend our congratulations to your delectable wife, Princess Olajumoke Abegunde, on her well deserved honour as Yeye Asiwaju of Akure Land. This is in recognition of your shared commitment to leadership, service, and the enduring progress of Akure Kingdom."
The Chairman of the Membership Board and Council Member of the Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors who also doubles as the Chairman of Premier Holiday Resorts, described Hon Sunday Abegunde as a grassroots politician whose reputation resonates not only in Akure but throughout Ondo State and Nigeria. He lauded Abena’s achievements, particularly within the political arena, as indelible, stating:
"I could not be prouder of your remarkable accomplishments as a political juggernaut who has ascended through the ranks of your political career from the grassroots to the pinnacle, and I am confident you will continue to soar higher, God willing. Within a remarkably brief tenure at the NDDC, you have transformed the agency and enhanced the lives of the region’s inhabitants through various infrastructure initiatives and capacity-building endeavors. You are indeed a living legend, Hon. Sunday Abegunde!"
Niyi Ijogun, a construction cost expert and a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, employed the medium to express his gratitude for Hon. Abegunde's moral and financial contributions to his alma mater, Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, both in the past and present. He therefore prayed for continued divine wisdom for the Asiwaju of Akure Land in all his future endeavors.
