– Donates ₦500,000 to Support Ongoing School's Perimeter Fencing
The Chairman of the UK Branch of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association, Elder Femi Olabintan, in his generosity, has hosted the Sendoff Planning Committee for the immediate past principal of the esteemed school, Mr Okeowo David Ogunleye.
Revd Ayoola Ikulamberu, the Global PRO of the Association, hinted on the motive behind the gathering shortly after he said the opening prayer, saying Elder Femi Olabintan, an active member of the Sendoff/Gala Night Committee, had earlier promised to host the committee upon his return to Nigeria. He added that Elder Olabintan expressed admiration for the efficient coordination of the committee by its Chairperson, Chief Dr (Mrs) Kolawole Kosemani, as well as the enthusiastic support shown by members through personal contributions towards the retirement gala night for the former principal.
Elder Olabintan, while speaking at the feast, appreciated the Global Executive Council and the Sendoff Organising Committee for a job well done and for the privilege given to him to serve his Alma mater. During the gathering, he promptly transferred a sum of ₦500,000 to the association's bank account as part of his commitment to assist in the ongoing boundary fencing project at the school. This financial support aims to procure a new generator to efficiently power the school's block industry.
Speaking at the event, Dr Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, the Global President of the Alumni Association, conveyed his appreciation through his representative – Comrade Rotimi Boboye, Esq, the Global Secretary-General. He lauded the gracious hospitality of the host, commended the committee, and praised the entire Alumni for their steadfast dedication to the excellent citadel of learning: "The Only School".
The get-together, which took place yesterday at the Alumni Secretariat, was graced by the presence of Dr Niyi Ijogun, the Global President of the Association, who was ably represented by Comrade Rotimi Boboye, Esq, the Global Secretary-General, along with several members of the committee: Elder Femi Olabintan, the host, Revd Ayoola Ikulamberu, the Global Public Relations Officer, Hon Goke Williams, the Global Ex-officio Member, Honorable Pastor (Dr) Afe Olowookere, the Chairman of the Akure Branch, Alhaji Idowu Abidakun, the Secretary of the Committee, Mr Timilehin Oni, the Akure Branch Financial Secretary, and Engineer Deji Olarerin, Also present were Mr Adeniyi Oluyide, the Principal of the School, and Hon Kehinde Boboye, the Vice Chairman of the Akure Branch. Chief Dr (Mrs) Kolawole Kosemani, the Chairperson of the Committee, was regrettably absent, as were other committee members residing outside of Ondo State and in the diaspora.
Alhaji Abidakun Idowu, the Secretary of the Committee, while speaking on behalf of the Global Executive Council and the Sendoff Organising Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Elder Femi Olabintan for graciously hosting the committee to a lavish meal. He prayed for God's continued favour and blessings for the host and his family.
It would be recalled that the Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Global Alumni Association celebrated Mr Okeowo David Ogunleye, the immediate past principal of the school, in grand style on his retirement. The banquet, which was held on Friday 22nd November 2024, was well attended. The event organising committee, under the chairmanship of Chief (Dr) Mrs Kosemani Kolawole, who currently serves as the Coordinator of the Alumni Women's Wing, ensured the seamless execution of the planning.
It is a known fact that the school has undergone tremendous and unprecedented infrastructural development under the dynamic leadership of Dr Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, the President of the OGSA Global Alumni Association. The Alumni Association has expanded its reach beyond Nigeria, with branches in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Canada, with plans ongoing to expand its branches to Asia and other regions across the globe.
