Mohbad's Private Cause of Death Released

 By: Goke Williams

The autopsy result of late musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, conducted by his family to ascertain the true cause of his demise through a private autopsy and toxicology has been released.

Recall that the Coroner’s Court sitting in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State granted the family permission to carry out an independent post-mortem examination and toxicology screening on Mohbad in June 2024.

Consequently, the family sought permission for an independent post-mortem examination due to questionable circumstances surrounding the passing of the deceased. The court's ruling followed the outcome of the prior autopsy conducted by the Lagos State Government, which was deemed inconclusive and subsequently dismissed by the family.

A family source privy to the development said yesterday that the result had been ready since December.

"The private autopsy has been concluded and the result is currently with the forensic pathologist contracted by the family. The result was ready since December and the pathologist is waiting to present it in court," the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, a concerned group known as The Critical Thinkers Group has advocated for the resumption of the coroner's inquiry into the demise of the musician. The group while also confirming the conclusion of the family’s private autopsy and toxicology report, said the suspension of the inquiry had raised concerns among many Nigerians home and abroad, prolonging the quest for answers regarding the musician's passing. In a statement signed by the secretary of its United States chapter, Bossy Keno: "It should be noted that the inquest was suspended in September following a court order. This came after an NGO that sought to participate in the proceedings was denied by Magistrate Shotibi of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court. The suspension of the inquest has raised concerns among many, with growing sentiments that the delay is prolonging the search for answers," it read.

Demanding for a prompt reopening of the proceeding to advancing the fact-finding process and ensuring the case can progress to the High Court, the group said: "We call on the Magistrate to set a new date for the proceedings and also to hear testimonies from key witnesses, including Naira Marley, Sammy Larry, Nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and the family’s pathologist, who is expected to present the findings of the private autopsy."

All eyes are on the Lagos State judiciary, as the last hope of the masses, not only to promptly reopen the case file, but also ensure that justice is served, and whoever found guilty by the competent court of law is subjected to face the full wrath of the law. As the popular saying goes: "Justice delayed is justice denial, and that the law is no respecter of persons." The truth is the global spotlight is directed towards the verdict of the court case in the pursuit of unraveling the underlying cause of the death of the highly talented musician, Mohbad.

Beware of Ondo-Ore Road

– As Motorists Call for Urgent Attention... The Ondo-Ore Road, currently undergoing construction, has become an exceedingly dangerous route for motorists plying it.  An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, shared his experience with Gok Communications. "The contractor responsible for the project should please establish accessible entry and exit points along the road, in addition to providing more prominent road signs and diversion signposts to facilitate the movement of vehicles, particularly during this rainy season. Numerous cars were trapped on the road while I was navigating it this evening," he lamented. He therefore implored the government to appeal to the contractors handling the Ondo-Ore road construction to take the necessary actions to ensure a seamless flow of transportation along the busy road. However, the federal government's vigorous efforts in the dualization of the road are highly commendable. It is indeed a testament to the dividends of democracy, and al...
