The Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Global Alumni Association celebrates Mr Okeowo David Ogunleye, the immediate past principal of the school, in grand style on his retirement.
Praises and accolades poured in abundantly from the old students' association to Mr Ogunleye, who served distinguishedly and meritoriously during his tenure as the principal of their alma mater between October 2020 and November 2024. The banquet, which was well-attended, was organised by the Global Alumni Association of the school as a tribute to the retiring principal, Mr Okeowo Ogunleye. The event, held at the St Andrew's Anglican Church Event Hall on the school premises, was graced by esteemed alumni, staffs, students, family members, and friends of the principal. The school band, the cultural troupe of Fiwasaye Girls' Grammar School, Akure, and the troupe from Akure South Local Government Area, all added glamour to the Gala Night.
The programme featured the induction of Mr Okeowo David Ogunleye as an honorary member into the Alumni Association. Also, the event included the presentation of an award for excellence and gifts to the retiring principal. A poem was eloquently recited by Hon Goke Williams, the CEO of Gok Communications, in honour of Mr Ogunleye – who taught him Government while he was a student at the institution.
Moreover, at the event, the school management under the leadership of the outgoing principal, presented awards of certificates to some distinguished alumni for their invaluable contributions to the overall growth of the school.
The event organising committee, under the chairmanship of Chief (Dr) Mrs Kosemani Kolawole, who presently serves as the coordinator of the Alumni Women's Wing, ensured the smooth running of the celebration.
The school has witnessed remarkable and unprecedented infrastructural development under the pragmatic leadership of Dr Niyi Ijogun, FNIQS, the president of the OGSA Global Alumni Association. The Alumni Association has expanded its reach beyond Nigeria, with branches in the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Canada, while the drive to extend its tentacles to Asia and other parts of the world is in a top gear.
